//Santa Barbara Adventures// It's a love hate thing with me and going away for work. Although being at a drive is better then being in my cubical all day, it's weird because my co-worker and I are so close in age to the students that we work with at these colleges that I think sometimes they forget that we're actually in charge. It makes for an amusing time, and well I think we get a slightly different experience then any of our other co-workers would get. We develop this certain rapport with them, that is pretty cool. We're in charge of the task at hand but we're also included in all the non work related stuff. The jokes, the making fun of pledges, the jokes, the jokes on how dumb they are... the crazy adventures doing common tasks, and just plain college stuff that I miss so much. So in a way, they give me my college fix (without having to go back to a poor, broke, not graduated from school yet) status. Tres cool! The funny thing about this trip out to do our thang is that we spent a significant amount of time with the students we were working with. Normally the day ends and off we go, but the day ended and the adventure began just to get back to our car. It's cool because I keep it gully and fun. I get in on the jokes when the door is left WIIIIIDE open for it (it's their own fault, they just set themselves up so perfectly... I can't help myself) So it's fun! Anytime work is fun... it's a good time. I guess the funny thing that my co-worker and I can't get over is the fact that they forget that we're in charge of the event. We're their age, but we have a job... and we're working at it, and they're just thinking we're off to hang out. It's cool for them because they get cool peeps coming to visit, it's hard for us though because they throw us off constantly. I'm an adult dammit! haha. Anyway, so great time in SB, although I miss home and I'm sad that I'm off to work again in San Diego. This time for three days! EeeK! Man I miss my bed! Random SB Memories --A pledge decides to tell me he's made the decision to DP... which I thought was kinda weird, but cool at the same time. How nice of him to feel comfortable enough to talk with me about it. --An active I mistakenly thought was a pledge and let me know wassup when I addressed him as one. --626 Clique! plus 1 --Amazing the boys with my BBALL knowledge (76s gettin' Webber, Baron Davis to the Warriors) --My co-worker and our ESPN! (Charlie Brown, Club Cheeta, Bananas and a buncha other things I forgot about) --"Bet's" with the President --The mile trek to and from UCEN to "the House" (especially the last trek with all the equipment and one pledge... hehe) --Teaching the walk and talk --Info meeting at the house... and not wanting to go in further then five steps --Febreeze for spring! --Dyyyyyylawn! --Birthday party invitations! (take a vacation come drink with us!) --Freebirds! and all you can eat sushi! --My bad navigational skills as a passenger --Name the ethnicity game! --Lauryn Hill and Utada Hikaru CDs on the way to SB --Fraturnity gods watching over us and pushing away the rain to Los Angeles And finally... although I doubt any of them would read this, I appreciate any moment where I am reminded of my youth, and how this trip through adulthood doesn't have to be as fast paced as it has been. Thank you guys!
