//Real Quick...// A lot has happened the last couple of days but for the most part, the hip hop head in me wants to say... Peace to Notorious B.I.G. (Great articles here and here courtesy of Notes from a Different Kitchen) (by the time I post this I'll be a little late hehe... but you know where I'm going with this) Can you believe it's been 8 years? Crazy. I don't remember where I was when it happened, I just remember that I heard about it on the local news. I do remember where I was when Tupac died tho. I guess it's the Westcoast loyality in me =) My hip hop friends and I always talk about how the game would be if Biggy and Tupac were still alive. Efff a 50 cent and Game beef you know that Biggy and 'Pac always and will be... THE KINGS. IMAGINE THE MUSIC! Gawd! I think peeps like Jay-Z and 50 wouldn't even be what they are if they both were still alive... but that's another debate for another day. When I saw the Fade to Black documentry movie (the documentry on Jay-Z and The Black Album) They do a biggy verse during the tribue Jay does to Aaliyah, Jam Master Jay, Tupac and Biggy. It was crazy, all of Madison Square Garden went crazy saying the lyrics to Mo Money Mo Problems. When Jay-Z came into town (THE MUTHA EFFIN BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY EFFIN LIFETIME!)... me and Amy rapped along as Juicy roared through the crowd. Such a great feeling... when hip hop is appreciated and loved by all colors, shapes and sizes (especially when you gotta stand on a chair to see over them LOL) All day today Power was doing a tribute to B.I.G. and they did some mean ass freestyle battles between the two of them. Aside all that, they played cuts from Ready to Die and Life After Death. (Cool cuts... Sky's the Limit and F***IN' you Tonight when R. Kelly was a hook guy! Remember those days?!) Ready to Die was and always will be classic. Anyhow... I notice that on the IPOD, it's all the old stuff. The stuff I grew up with... the new stuff doesn't get the same play as the classics nah mean? Word.
